Fiona’s Fifty-k Farley Ride

Today I get to post an article highlighting just one of the many wonderful things that one of my favourite people is doing this September. This September Dr. Fiona Gilchrist will be riding in a 50 kilometre bike ride to raise money for the Farley Foundation.

Hi everyone,

On Saturday, September 20th, I will be joining friends, colleagues and my husband Tim in a 50 km charity bike ride to raise funds for the Farley Foundation. This isn’t just a great opportunity to wear spandex, it’s a chance to help needy seniors and the disabled pay for veterinary care when their pets get sick. When vets kick-in and Farley helps too, there are lots of happy endings.

Every animal hospital in the province of Ontario has access to $1,000 annually from this fund to use to help owners with animals in need. The application process is quick and simple. If a pet owner meets the criteria we are allowed to use some of the funds available to defray the costs of expensive procedures. Like many other practices in this province we will often add our own contribution to this to help as well. In the end someone with limited income gets to keep their beloved pet and does not have to face the decision to euthanize them simply because they do not have enough money to save them.

So please come to our Open House on September 6th, drop by the hospital any time, or click on the website link above and sponsor Fiona. This is truly an exceptional animal charity and you will be helping folks in this province get medical care for their pets that otherwise they could not afford.
