Safeguard your feline friend from harmful diseases with a vaccination plan.
Keeping your kitten up to date on vaccinations is an important part of ensuring a long and healthy life. Kittens need vaccinations early in life as antibodies they receive from their mother start to decrease around 6-8 weeks of age. It is during this time that they need to start building their own immunity through vaccinations to help prevent them from life-threatening diseases.
We at Hillcrest recommend kittens should go through a series of vaccinations to build up their immunity with their first vaccine being given around 8 weeks of age.
In general kittens should get vaccines at 8, 12 & 16 weeks and then should be vaccinated on a yearly basis. During your first visit to the clinic with your kitten, our veterinarian will determine a vaccine schedule that will suit your pet’s needs and lifestyle.
Depending on the kitten’s lifestyle the veterinarian will determine what core vaccines are required.
Unfortunately, risk-free vaccines do not exist, and it is important to discuss with your veterinarian your pet’s lifestyle and anything medically that may be going on with your cat before having any vaccines. Most pets will have no issues receiving their vaccines but there is a small chance that reactions may develop as a result of vaccination.
