X-ray and Ultrasound

Non-invasive diagnostic tools used to identify internal issues and provide targeted medical care.

X-rays and ultrasounds are both an important veterinary tool. It is an invasive way to look at the internal organs and bones of your pet that allow us to see things that we might not otherwise see with the naked eye. Here at Hillcrest Animal Hospital, we have a state of the art digital x-ray and dental machine as well as an ultrasound unit right on site.

How do you use x-ray and radiology services at your clinic?

X-rays are used routinely to determine a diagnosis or to scan a larger area of the body (chest abdomen) to locate abnormalities. Ultrasound is frequently used to get more information about a specific area where a problem is detected, particularly in the abdomen as it allows us to get an invasive look of your pet’s internal organs.

How do you prepare your dog for their x-ray appointment?

Depending on why your pet is in need of an x-ray or ultrasound will determine what preparation may be needed. X-rays and ultrasounds can be done right on the spot and not always is any preparation required. If your pet requires an x-ray or ultrasound our veterinarian will discuss with you the process involved.

How much do dog x-ray examinations cost?

The cost of an x-ray varies depending on the area of the body the veterinarian is looking to examine further. If your pet is in need of an x-ray we will put together an estimate and review it with you before proceeding.
